GONG HEI FAT CHOY!:

so another new year.. and if 2008 wasnt starting off well enough for some people (like the sister- ann).. then hopefully the new year of the rat will bring more luck!

things im looking fwd to this year:

1. going to HK to visit phillip.. cant wait! to buy more movies to add to my collection and eat!!! i cannot wait!! gonna go back to china too.. yaaay!! and i have a digicam now! cant believe i didnt have one last time.. i guess it was before everyone had a digicam.

2. things at work.. i got into a semi-funk few days/weeks ago.. like.. ugh.. im bored w/whats going on.. im over it.. but i think im back in the groove now. (im sure its all due to me being me: i get bored pretty easily and theres sooo much to do in life and i feel like theres not enough time! i wanna work in another country for awhile.. i still have a lot to see!.. and i love my job.. but to sit still and commit a couple of years to it.. that takes a lot.. from me, at least. i could never get a tatoo.. to much committment!)

3. turning 3 - 0. ive been dreading it for the last few years.. since i turned 25, actually. but im over it now.. i think it'll be okay! =)

4. battle of red-cliff coming out! after much anticipation.. i finally saw the warlords the other night. should watch it if you like old school chinese/asian back-in-the-day war epic type movies. has andy, jet li and takeshi in it.. good for the guys.. great cast of men for the ladies.. old school chinese movie to take you back to another time (i love stuff like that!) i was feeling takeshi's character the most.. probably due to his innocence, his loyalty to his brothers and his goal to do what was right or at least thought of as 'right'. andy and jet li did their thing as well.. but i felt more for takeshi's character and the way he played the character.. i just felt it was a more complex character than the other two who definitely already had their sides and opinions. plus.. cmon'.. its takeshi! overall.. as the reviews mention.. this was a major thing for the asian film industry.. for a movie of this calibre. battle of red cliff.. goes further back in time.. bigger list of awesome actors (takeshi and tony again.. and i love vicky zhao!).. cant wait!!

5. spring. my favorite season.. just makes me happy to walk outside-- w/a goofy smile on my face 24/7 like i just left the mental institution. love spring!!

6. i will be better in cantonese than i was because instead of knowing the stuff that ive just picked up from here and there for the past 29 years.. i would of finished the first level of formal education.

i think it shall be a good year!! and i wish its a good year for everyone else too!!! while reading an article on the train today.. its said that 50% of your emotions/how u deal w/things are genetics, 10% is just life or the situation (something u cant control) and the other 40%.. well thats up to you and your outlook.. not too bad! =) .. i hope i didnt butcher that info and am misleading anyone!

.. i had a dream the other night.. woke up terrified.. no.. its not from watching the scary asian movies ive been watching.. but something else.. maybe explain in another entry.

oh.. if u havent.. watch 'death note, part 1 and 2': its this jpns movie w/deathgods and all.. ive seen it several times awhile ago and finally purchased it.. really like it!.. but thats me.

1 week of wearing glasses: I MISS CONTACTS!!! life is soooo different behind glasses-- gets in the way of work..

the current big deal at work: finally had our concept meeting for our upcoming wedding.. $1.5+ million dollars. ah.. thats only flowers and decor for our company alone (not including lighting).. mylord!!! had to stay late and re-do flowers, upon flowers, upon flowers... tooo much money to spend but they dont want it to look like a lot was spent.. if i had that much money to spend for my wedding.. my 50 guests would be eating VERY WELL!.. and id take a year off to travel.. (and give some somewhere and invest so i can do it all over again!)woOHooOOOOoooo..

speaking of weddings: while i was home for the holidays.. the moms and it seems like everyone else she knows is trying to whore me off. her deadline is 30.. that leaves me a few more months. but 30 is the new 20! =) my gay co-worker said he felt sorry for me cus he doesnt think ill meet anyone-- work w/all gay people so he said he'd marry me.. im sure mom will be happy!

*but my eye is much better!.. so im very greatful! cant complain.

Happy New Year!.. im usually very thankful for my life and really happy w/it (no.. not in a corny cheesy way-- i dont think) but i am soooooo thankful this new year!!.. however it seems like random 'bad' stuff is happening so far.

:: New Year's eve: i start to have eye problems.. was the most horrible new years eve ever. =/ (thankyou skanky and laura for coming over tho.. sorry i was such poop)

:: New Year's day: wake up and am completely sensitive to any type of light.. could not even handle any light w/my eyes closed.. had to keep both of my eyes completely covered or be in the dark. managed to look in the mirror and see that the little white blob in the eye the night before had grown into a pretty decent smudgy blob.. in my red eye. that and not be able to tolerate any light?!?!?!?!?? EMERGENCY ROOOM!!!!

:: diagnosed w/iritus / ulcer on the retnea.. *yikes!??!?!?* eyeball sensories freaking out so too much light is going in, the blob has gotten bigger and spreading.. making this a smoggy blur.. riding to the hospital.. im like.. PLEASE, PLEASE.. I CANNOT LOSE THIS EYE! I HAVE GOOD SELF-ESTEEM, CHEERY OUTLOOK ON LIFE, I HAVE A JOB THAT REQUIRES THE USE OF MY EYES, I LOVE MOVIES!, I LOVE FOOTBALLS, I NEED TO DO RYAN CHAN'S WEDDING FLOWERS WHEN HE GROWS UP.. BUT IM REALLY A WIMP!!.. I WONT BE ABLE TO TAKE THIS TYPE OF A BLOW.. I WILL GO INTO A GREAT STATE OF DEPRESSION!!.. PLEASE!!!!.. I CANNOT LOSE THIS EYE. no... i did not say all this to the docs.. i sure was thinking all of it tho.

:: so after A LOOOOOOOOOOOOT of antibiotics and medical monitoring every day last couple of days.. there is progress!.. and tuyen will still be able to make pretty flowers!! still cant bear very bright lights or daylight but w/the progress i have.. i am sooooo very thankful! now hopefully the scar from everything wont be too bad so no surgery is needed afterwards because i am complete chickenshit!

:: Ann, however hasnt had as much good luck. she completely blew out her tire driving last night and somehow punctured something in the car that holds liquids during all of it.. messed up her alignment and completely shot up her (what do you call that thing that your tires go on?.. that!.. she completely f*cked that up).. i dont know how she did it.. she didnt even know she did it until some person told her at a red light.. and oh yeah.. while she was trying to jack the car before i came.. she puts the jack in the wrong place.. completely f*cks up the grill of the car (its the low-riding matrix).. and its completely whacked out of place and f*cked up.. (yes.. i paid for the car, but its been called her car since i moved to ny and shes never around when im home for me to drive it.. so i must take myself out of this and not let it get to me.. which it hasnt.. I HAVE BOTH OF MY EYES BY THE WAY!!!) so yeah.. lotta $$$$$ for ann in this new year. only thing that sucked was that ann calls home (Lan and i were still awake at 2 watching movies).. and we went out in the freeeeeeeeeezing cold to be heros! thers a longer version to this story but i wont go there.

:: i was home and laughing at this really random chain-reaction incident that happend to noki, ryan and my mom and i was eating this.. doughy soup thing (what we eat for chinese new year).. and the doughy balls (phuong made the dough) was really, REALLY slippery and it ran straight down my throat (this is something u usually have to chew).. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! *cough cough*.. *cough cough cough!!!*.. whew! im alive! made lan laff.

:: some other really random stuff happend.. its soooo wierd.. put the 4 of us, ryan and my mom and noki together and we've got a circus of wierd random stuff happening.. and this all went whack when the new year started. somehow none of this has affected Kevin.. hmm..

we're gonnna wait for Chinese New Year to really celebrate a new year..

ps. if you ever have any eye issues.. random blobs showing up in your eye.. take those friggin contacts out and go to an eye specialist (no.. not just a normal eye doc who give you your prescription) or emergency room.. things like this can quickly leed to blindness if not taken care of. and there are just too many pretty things in this world to not take things seriously.

HAPPY *BELATED* CHRISTMAS!

woah.. im really in due time for an update!

in the midst of a 12-day break and been doing utterly nothing but being online, eating (lots of eating!) and watching movies-- that is the life! .. i miss that life.

i feel like ive fallen off from my connection to the online world.. *yikes!* ive fallen from doing a lot of my hobbies, actually. but ive been completely sucked into work last few months.. event after event.. its been crazy! but now that i have a second to breath.. i think its due time to catch up on a few life-rewarding things again.. that shall be my new year's resolution!

- update more often: i like to look back on past entries and remember what was happening at that time in life.. and recently.. i look back.. and theres not much because i didnt update. =/ .. if i have time.. maybe once a day!?? and must not be lazy and post more pictures because i love looking back on pictures!

- knitting: got a good amt of knitting supplies for christmas.. im gonna knit! ive been pretty good w/the sewing thing.. been sewing things for gifts every once in awhile but i havent tried knitting.

- watch more movies! i havent had time lately because of work and getting home to walk/feed noki.. but must watch more movies!! this includes chinese movies. some movies i saw so far over break:

I AM LEGEND: snuck in to watch this w/phillip (didnt sneak in entirely!.. we saw NATIONAL TREASURE first and then it was right there on the way out.. timing was perfect.. never snuck into a movie before.. it was like 12 midnight.. so why the hell not!?) we were both like 'ahh.. so-so' w/wanting to watch it.. were curious about it but didnt have heavy feelings either way about watching it. overall.. it was definitely entertaining!.. and playing w/the thought of being the only person left on earth (or even a city) is pretty cool.. and mygod.. i love zombie movies.. so this did it for me! quite a few times i was left jumping out of my seat and covering my eyes and minor screaming. i'm not a will smith fan.. he's been annoying me last few years but that didnt get in the way-- im not that big of a hater! .. well sometimes. ;)

NATIONAL TREASURE: if youre looking for a treasure hunty type of movie.. it was good and lived up to that. id seen the first 2 and phil was in the mood for a treasure hunt so there went that.

MR BROOKS: if you love murder movies or dark humor.. watch it!! mr brooks and his sidekick definitely had me laughing.. they'd murder someone w/as much thought as someone turning on their computer. the thought of murder is definitely fucked up but if you dont think about it like that.. good movie!

STARDUST: if you want an enchanting story.. watch it!! i think the fact that claire dane's character was a star and she'd glow depending on her mood was really magical! i thought clair danes did a fabulous job being a star.

CHINESE ODYSSEY (w/tony and faye wong): i own this one and think it's soo cute and hilariously funny so decided to watch it again.. as usual.. still cracks me up! watch it if you havent.. its sooooo funny!!

INFERNAL AFFAIRS III: only seen these like 10million times but love it! so decided to bring them back w/me to philly to watch during break. INFERNAL AFFAIRS I didnt work in our dvd player here cus its a vcd and didnt want to watch something so great on my computer.. and was in the mood for some tony.. so popped in INFERNAL AFFAIRS III and thankgoodness.. it worked! yay to that!

CONFESSION OF PAIN (w/tony and takeshi): ordered it, arrived perfectly during my long break.. some reviews werent that great for it.. but it entertained me. having tony and takeshi in it didnt hurt either! they're supposidly gonna do a U.S. remake of this one.. w/leonardo.. wonder why its always leonardo re-doing these HK movies-- infernal affairs/departed.. i like leonardo anyway.. so its cool.

saw some other lame-o movies which i dont think i paid enough attention to completely title as bad or horrible. (HARRY POTTER was one of them and i never was a Potter fan but now im certain im not.. Lan was sooo excited about it-- usually a person's excitment would feed onto me a bit.. but didnt happen this time)

now waiting for my next batch of HK/Japanese movies to arrive.. if it arrives today.. thatd be awesome!! if not.. that completely blows because ill have to watch them back in NY while im working and not being a complete bumb where i can blow away my time in front of the computer and the tv.

PSU vs Notre Dame at Tonic:
all smiles because we won!.. wohooOo!! victooooory shot!! (which made me soo ill.. ugh!)

PSU vs Michigan at Ann Arbor:
really nice tailgating experience.. the Michigan fans were cool (for the most part.. had a few yell outs w/some of them.. its okay for a girl to talk some shit back or scream back.. all in good fun!) group concensus is that we'd do it again.. but we better come back w/a win next time!!!!!!!!!!!!! that really hurt! good thing the eagles and giants won on sunday.. otherwise the weekend woulda sucked!

4:: we were hardcore.. sat outside the stadium to finish our drinks.. couldnt have it go to waste! (mine was actually Matt's.. he couldnt finish it.. cant blame him.. he already had like 8 in him)

9:: not sure u can tell.. but we had such a good fan/student section!! they took up the entire last 20 or some rows wrapping around 1/4 of the stadium and we were scattered ALL throughout.. there were soooo many of us!! the boys estimate like 10,000 pennstaters.. we also had a huuuuge psu tent and pep rally beforehand.. psu alums friggin rock!!! it was awesome!

: starting a new job at an awesome event design company next month.

: finished my flower shop job last week.

: gonna have myself a month-long summer vacation this month

: Noki got an ear infection last weekend while i was in philly.. causing Lan to freak the shit out and call me at like 3am.. i was alseep.

: saw Fracture.. and cannot wait for Resident Evil 3!!

: EJ and Jea are pregnant.. so went to their fabulous baby shower which gave me such laughs! (feel bad for the kid when Ma and Pa starting changing those daipers) =) almost teared up for a millasecond when i saw EJ in her pregnant glory.. woah. a pregnant friend. i mean.. pregnant sister is 1 thing.. was like mine.. but pregnant friend.. sorta kicks you along somewhere.. and makes you think.. (NO.. not that i wanna be carrying one of my own around) but holyshit.. my eggs are lessening and lesssening..

: i got a black video ipod for belated bday present!!! holyshit!!.. i mean.. ive been wanting a major upgrade (from my shuffle) for awhile.. but considering i gotta lay low w/the money this month.. i had priorities (like buying chicken and bones for noki and early bday presents for some people) so ipod definitely had to wait. but nope.. EJ and Jea (who really are gonna be poooor parents soon cus kids are waaay expensive) friggin got me my beloved ipod.. and not just friggin 20 gigs or whatever gigs they come in..they friggin got me the 80gig. noticed it when i got home and im like.. *wtf!??!?! 80gigs?!??! what the hell am i gonna do w/80gigs?!?! they're crazy!*.. but then ann came to the rescue and said.. pictures! oh duh.. yeah.. i got a lot of them. THANKKKKYOU GUYS!! not to be materialistic.. and rant about this forever.. but yeah.. i really wanted one. heh!

: went to visit another future mommy.. Vicky. she didnt look too pregnant.. so i didnt choke up or anything.. always good to see Vicky.. actually.. gonna see her like 3 times this week.. woah!

: gonna start running again!!.. brought my sneakers home.. but friggin Skank hasnt returned my txts on when we're gonna run! i may just do it myself or w/Quasi this weekend when I go back to NY

k.. that was my attempt at finding some money for the month.. hm.. maybe i should pick up bartending for a month.. doubt it.. would do BR for a month.. but need a car.. gaaahhh!! i guess this teaches me a lesson.. when u have extra money in the bank.. save some of it.. dont just spend it to spend it..
